Bas Eickhout is a Member of the European Parliament of the Greens–European Free Alliance (Greens/EFA) group.
In his third term, Eickhout was elected in 2009, 2014 and 2019 and is delegation leader of the Dutch Greens in Parliament. He is a member and the coordinator for his group in the committee on the environment, public Health and food Safety (ENVI) and a substitute member of the committee on economic and monetary affairs (ECON) and the committee on budgetary control (CONT). In addition, he is a member of the delegation for relations with the People’s Republic of China (D-CN) and a substitute member of the delegation for relations with the United States (D-US). He worked on several projects that addressed international environmental issues, such as climate change, agriculture, land use and biofuels. He co-authored the IPCC report on climate change which received the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Prior to his career, he studied Chemistry and Environmental Sciences at the Radboud University in Nijmegen (RU).
