Gladden Pappin is president of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs.
A native of the United States, Dr. Pappin has been a visiting senior fellow at the Mathias Corvinus Collegium since 2021. Prior to joining HIIA, Dr. Pappin was associate professor of politics at the University of Dallas. Dr. Pappin is the cofounder and deputy editor of American Affairs as well as the cofounder of Postliberal Order. He is a permanent research fellow and senior adviser at the University of Notre Dame’s de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture, and he is also an alumnus of the Notre Dame Institute for Advanced Study (2013). Since 2017 he is a Knight of Magistral Grace in the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and since 2021 a Knight of Merit in the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St. George. He is also a citizen of the Osage Tribal Nation. He received his BA in history (2004) and his MA and PhD in government (2012), all from Harvard University.
