László Bruszt is Director of the CEU Democracy Institute, and Professor of Sociology at the Central European University. During the regime change in 1989 he served as National Secretary of the newly formed independent trade unions and has represented them in the Roundtable Negotiations. He started to teach at CEU in 1992 and has served as its Acting Rector and President in 1996/97. Between 2004 and 2016 he was teaching at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. His publications focus on issues of regime change and economic transformation. His more recent studies deal with the politics of economic integration of the Eastern and Southern peripheries of Europe.

Kim Van Sparrentak
Kim van Sparrentak is a Dutch Member of the European Parliament for the Greens/EFA since 2019. She is a member of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection committee where she works on digital rights and human rights protection in Artificial Intelligence as well as on greening the EU single market. She is also a member of the Employment and Social Affairs committee where she works on protecting workers’ rights in the digital age and affordable housing and energy poverty. She is also a feminist and member of the queer community who fights for equality.

KATI MARTON is the New York Times bestselling author of ten books, including the Chancellor – the Remarkable Odyssey of Angela Merkel, a New York Times Notable Book of 2021, Enemies of the People: My Family’s Journey to America, which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, Hidden Power: Presidential Marriages that Shaped Our History, True Believer: Stalin’s Last American Spy, and the memoir Paris: A Love Story. An award-winning former correspondent for NPR and ABC News, Marton has combined a writing life with activities to advance human rights. A onetime refugee herself, she serves on the board of the International Rescue Committee, the American Academy in Berlin and Central European University, and was formerly the chair of the Committee to Protect Journalists and the International Women’s Health Coalition. She is the recipient of a George Foster Peabody Award for broadcast journalism, as well as a Matrix Award for Women Who Change the World and the United Nations Association’s Leo Nevas Human Rights Award. Born and raised in Hungary, Marton is the mother of a son and a daughter. She lives in New York City.

Katalin Cseh
Katalin Cseh is a Member of the European Parliament of Renew Europe.
She was elected as a Momentum Movement (part of the Renew Europe party group) Member of the European Parliament (MEP) in the 2019 parliamentary election.
Momentum Movement became a centrist political party in March 2017. In August 2017, she was appointed to the governing board of the party. Cseh was a candidate for the party in the 2018 Hungarian parliamentary election. The party did not win any seats in parliament, and the governing board (including Cseh) resigned.
Katalin Cseh was born on 29 June 1988 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her early education was at Toldy Ferenc High School in Budapest, Hungary. She graduated from Semmelweis University specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology. In 2015, she obtained a master’s degree in Health Economics, Policy, and Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam. In the same year, Cseh co-founded Momentum Movement group with nine others. The group campaigned against the Hungarian government’s decision to bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics. They petitioned for a referendum on the issue and garnered more than 266,000 signatures. This resulted in the government withdrawing their bid.

Cseh stood as a candidate for Momentum Movement in the 2019 European parliamentary election. In the European Parliament, she is one of the eight vice-chairs of the Renew Europe political group. Cseh is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research, and Energy and is part of the delegation for relations with the United States.

Kadri Simson
Kadri Simson is an Estonian politician from the Centre Party. She is serving as a European Commissioner for Energy in the Von der Leyen Commission since 1 December 2019.
She was previously the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure in Jüri Ratas’ first cabinet from 2016 to 2019. During the Estonian Presidency in the Council of the EU, Simson chaired both energy ministers and transport ministers meetings in TTE Council and ministers of economy format in EU Competitiveness Council.
From 2007–2016 Kadri Simson was a member of the 11th, 12th, and 13th Riigikogu and in 2019 she was also elected to the 14th Riigikogu. She holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from University College London.
